Shup v0.25 Released!

Less than a month since our last release, I like that!  Shup v0.25 is a useful release featuring a brand new image resize dialog, and the option to save paintbrush size and color between editor sessions.  It also fixes a bug involving the selection rectangle.  This release is very editor-oriented and pushes Shup a little bit closer to nirvana (sans shotgun).

I also fixed some user account / tag related bugs on Stashbox, in case anyone was wondering =)

Shup v0.24 Released!

Wow, it’s been a while.  Since Shup v0.23 came out on March 30, 2008, Josh and I have been busy with other things.  Josh was, of course, working on CryptoMail, the most secure, awesome email service/client ever to come out of Moraga, CA.  And I (Dan) have been working on camelcamelcamel.com, my Amazon price tracker project.

Anyway, both of those projects are going well but that is not why I am writing this today!  Shup v0.24 is out, dude[s|ettes].  It features a vast array of small changes that will make your Shupping a bit easier, like more ways to crop your images and autocropping support for the PalmOS Emulator.  In addition, Shup will now hide itself when you capture your desktop (using capture desktop menu items; hotkey-initiated capture remains the same), so no more pushing Shup out of the way when you want to capture your entire desktop.

PS - I am flying to NYC this weekend and am hoping to code Shup v0.25 on the plane.  Wish me luck!

Shup v0.23 Released, Supports Stashbox Accounts

Yes, you read the title correctly. We have finally added to Shup support for Stashbox (and derivative sites’) user accounts, so now all of your lovely shups can go straight to your own special little slice of the Internet.

Stashbox itself also received a small upgrade, in the form of a Forgot Password page. You’ll have to add an email address to your Stashbox account for this to be of use, but it is handy when you forget your password. =)

Additionally, we now also have a Shup Firefox extension which provides some useful functionality, like capturing entire pages or single images and uploading them (with Shup if you have it installed, without if not).

Three good reasons to get both Shup and a Stashbox account if you’re one of that most minimal few who remain without!

Shup v0.22 Released!

Hello Internetter, did you know Shup v0.22 is out? The main changes are: a resizable image editor window (yes, you can size it to fit your screen and scroll the image now); a performance scaler in the Shup preferences dialog that lets you “dial back” the image editor if it uses too much CPU; a few bugs, too, like filename sanitization and memory/resource leaks. All in all, a solid release.

By the way, I am under no small amount of pressure to remind you that you can resize your paintbrush by holding control and scrolling the mousewheel. This is similar to how it used to work (with just the mousewheel), but was a required change when we added scrollbars to the editor window. Additionally, if you select an area with the marquee tool and hold control while dragging it, the selected piece of the underlying image will be moved along with the marquee.

Shup v0.21 Released

While those less hardy might have succumbed to the temptation of lazyness, we worked for literally part of the day to get this release out the door. Shup v0.21 is a good Shup, a happy Shup. It contains changes to the image editor tools (resize/move/upload selected areas), the history list (more butter), and custom output formatting, for those times when a simple URL in the clipboard isn’t enough. There are also some bug-fixes, and a new installer as well.

Happy New Year.

Shup v0.20 Released

Shup v0.20 is out the door and includes the addition of a couple new history list right-click menu items as well as bug fixes to browser autocropping and tagging support. A small but useful sequel to v0.19.

Download it here.

Speaking of Shup, zdnet.be picked it up and reviewed it — click here to read it; translated to english. The reviewer was kind to us; for example, “Shup is a useful intermediary for some time actions and deserves a prominent place in your system tray.” Awesome!

I guess it’s time for language packs =)

Shup v0.19 Released, Beta Site Goes Live

Just a quick note tonight to say that I released Shup v0.19 tonight. The main change in this version is the addition of web browser autocropping, which removes browser chrome from four major browsers (Firefox, IE, Opera, Netscape). Aside from that, there are a couple of bug fixes and tweaks that should make Shup run a little bit more nicely.

I also moved the beta version of Stashbox into the main site, so get to using all those hot new features!

Shup v0.18 Released!

Another month passes and we roll out another delicious Shupdate. In this release, Josh added a nicely-theme-able history list (check out the bundled skins, and get more at stashbox.org in the coming weeks!). Also added is automatic window client area cropping, drag-and-drop files onto Shup to upload, the option to start Shup with Windows, and a handful of bugfixes that make v0.18 a pretty solid release.

Shup v0.16 Release

Welcome to Shup v0.16.

After a bit of manual labor, Josh and I settled into a night of Shuppin’ at the warehouse. Bad jokes were made, KMFDM was listened to, and code was written. In the end, we decided to include changes like a blur effect in the image editor, more support for existing effects in IGNITE, and some new useful options for the upload history list (try right-clicking it.) We also fixed the bug introduced in v0.15 which you are all about to witness as I push v0.16 live. Sorry! Hopefully the crash makes you wonder if there’s an update to fix it, etc… =)

Shup v0.15 Release

Two months later and we’re back with a release that includes support for multiple image formats and image resizing. It also has optional user pins for Ignite, so you can see where your cohorts are painting. Additionally, there are a few bug fixes.
