shup is a screenshot editing and sharing tool for Windows. It allows you to capture any window, edit it, and save it to disk and / or upload it to stashbox.org.

Image Capture

Screenshot capture is currently initiated by hitting one of the available hotkeys (each of which perform a different task). At the moment, you can currently define hotkeys for two different types of capture: active window, which captures the currently active window; and desktop, which captures your full desktop.

Image Editing and Preview

This step is optional and is disabled by default for desktop capture, as the preview window does not yet support resizing or scrolling of oversize images.

The preview window supports two main editing tools, the paintbrush and the rectangular selection tool.

The Paintbrush

The paintbrush is round. Its radius can be changed by scrolling your mousewheel forward or backward. It paints with the currently selected color (changed using the color button in the toolbar).

The Rectangular Selection Tool

This tool can be used to select a rectangular region of the image (go figure). Once selected, you can take the following actions:

Other Toolbar Buttons

After the Paintbrush and Rectangular Selection toolbar buttons, you'll find the Crop and Color Selection buttons. The former is used in conjunction with the Rectangular Selection tool (as described in the previous section), and the latter allows you to set the active color.

Finally, the toolbar saves the most important buttons for last. The Cancel button, marked by a red 'X', will abort the current image processing. Conversely, the Continue button, marked by a green check mark, confirms you are done editing the image and wish to continue.

Menu Options

In the File menu, you have three options. Save As... will allow you to save the current state of the image to a PNG file of your choosing; Continue and Abort act as the similarly-named toolbar buttons do.

In the Options menu, Change Filename will let you modify the name of the final PNG image; Choose Color... and Crop both do the same thing as the corresponding toolbar buttons.

Saving and Uploading

The final step in the shup process is actually comprised of two completely optional steps: saving the file to disk, and uploading the file to stashbox.

Saving to Disk

If you have enabled this option in the hotkey preferences in the main shup window, shup will save a PNG image to the Archive Folder you've selected. By default this folder is \Archive.

Uploading to Stashbox

With this option enabled, shup will upload your image to Stashbox. You can define one or more tags for these uploads in the main shup window, which is useful for finding your files later. There is also a progress meter and a Cancel button in the main window, which lets you see upload progress and cancel the upload, respectively.

All images uploaded to Stashbox through shup are automatically flagged as PRIVATE, meaning they will not show up in the public file browser or RSS feed. After a successful upload, the Stashbox URL will be placed into your clipboard for pasting into anything you desire!

shup Settings

shup's main window contains all of the global and hotkey settings that define how shup acts and deals with the shuppin' process.

Hotkey Settings

To edit a hotkey, you must first choose an associated action from the Actions dropdown; after you do this, the options below will be enabled:

Global Settings

First, we have the tags box. Here you can enter any tags you wish to be used when uploading images to Stashbox. This can be very useful for finding your images later. Note: This is invalid as all files are uploaded privately.

You'll find the shup Archive Folder setting immediately below the tags box. You can either click the ... (browse) button to open the Browse for Folder dialog, or you can enter the path manually.

To the right of the first two settings is the Upload Status. shup will display a progress meter and a Cancel button here while it is uploading a file to Stashbox.

Finally, we have the default file naming convention box. Here you define a naming convention for image files using a few replacement variables, like window title, date/time, etc.
