Obviously not working with recent FF versions, but somebody has posted a version that does work. Just go to http://www.badongo.com/file/10456158 and enter the image text and wait the 30 seconds to download it. Working with FF 3.07 on a Mac. Other options are to edit the file to remove the version restriction or use one of the addons that allows you to bypass the compatibility checks.

Addon works perfect~!! Mick you must turn off in firefox addons version checker option.
Pin button = good idea :-) maybe some shortcut option in settings of this addon?

Managed to download the version at top of page.Tried to install and got an error message from FF (3.0.5) This add-on could not be installed as it is not compatible with FF 3.0.5

Nightly Tester Tools addon can force it to work.
NTT is intended for use with pre-release builds of firefox for testing purposes, use at own risk.
Also, would be nice if the 'float' feature worked properly, rather than bumping the page and then quickly bumping it back.

http://www.badongo.com/en/cfile/10456158 lets you download "hide_tab_bar-0.2.2-fx.xpi" that is compatible with Firefox 3.0.3.(works fine with mine!).
